Why TELTA

Structure you can trust.
People you already know.

01 / SAFETY

Every driver. Every vehicle. Verified.

Roadworthy inspections, PDP checks, and association ID on every windshield. If it carries the TELTA mark, it has been cleared to operate.

02 / GOVERNANCE

An elected leadership, a written code.

TELTA operates under a constitution with an elected Executive Committee, quarterly general meetings, and transparent dispute resolution.

03 / COVERAGE

From Winnie Mandela to Kempton. Covered.

Routes linking every Tembisa section to Kempton Park, Isando, Olifantsfontein, Midrand and Sandton — plus school-run and dedicated hospital trips.

04 / FLEET MANAGEMENT

One association. One standard.

TELTA Fleet Management oversees livery, service records, insurance status, and queue marshal deployment across the network.

05 / COMMUNITY

Have you at heart. Literally.

Our logo is a heart held in two hands — it's not decoration. TELTA runs clean-ups, funeral convoys, learner sponsorships and emergency transport.

06 / PARTNERSHIPS

Affiliated. Aligned. Accountable.

A SANTACO Gauteng affiliate working with Ekurhuleni Metro, the Department of Transport, and private partners on formalisation.

LEADERSHIP · SANTACO engagement /01
Leadership that shows up

On the ground.
In the meetings.
For the rank.

Our executive doesn't run TELTA from behind a desk. You'll find them at the rank at 05:30, in stakeholder meetings at 10:00, and walking the routes you travel every day. That's not a slogan — that's the job.

About TELTA

A taxi association,
yes — but really,
a community that
moves itself.

TELTA was founded by Tembisa operators who believed the township deserved a transport network that worked for commuters first, and one that was answerable to its own people. More than two decades later, that principle still runs the organisation.

Our History

Four moments that made us.

2003 · FOUNDING

Tembisa, for Tembisa

A group of local operators formalise the Tembisa Local Taxi Association with a founding constitution and the first elected executive.

2011 · FORMALISATION

Operating licenses, in order

TELTA coordinates full route-licensing compliance with the Provincial Regulatory Entity — every vehicle, every route, on the books.

2018 · FLEET MGMT

One livery, one standard

Launch of the TELTA Fleet Management programme — branded vehicles, service records, centralised roadworthy audits.

2024 · COMMUNITY

"Have you at heart"

Public adoption of the heart-and-hands mark — signalling TELTA's commitment to community programmes alongside daily operations.

Mission · Vision · Values

What we stand on.

Our Mission

To move Tembisa, safely.

Operating a reliable, affordable, and well-governed minibus taxi service that connects every section of Tembisa to the workplaces, schools, clinics and economic centres of Gauteng.

01
Our Vision

A formalised network, still rooted at home.

To be the benchmark for how a township taxi association operates — professional enough to partner with government and corporates, grounded enough to never forget the commuter at the rank.

02
Our Values

Umphakathi. Uhlonipho. Ukuthembeka.

Community, respect, and accountability. These aren't bullet points on a poster — they are how dispute resolution, driver conduct, and executive decisions are judged internally.

Community & Stakeholders

"Residents, Metro, SAPS, schools — we talk to all of them. That is how trust is built."

Our role in the community

More than a ride home.

TELTA members run a road-safety clean-up programme at Tembisa intersections, sponsor learner transport for matric students sitting finals, and provide emergency transport for elderly residents needing to reach Tembisa Hospital.

We also operate a funeral convoy service free of charge for member families — because an association that only cares about fares is not an association worth belonging to.
